Day Forty-one: Bacon and Eggs!

Wakey, wakey.

We love breakfast, though we’re rarely awake for it.

When I was a kid, my parents made breakfast every Sunday night, which I thought was pretty cool.

I’ve always been a night person. Jenny’s the same.

I’ve eaten more breakfasts at two in the morning than at eight in the morning, no contest.

Last week, Jenny bought me a brand new cast-iron skillet.

I was ecstatic. I love those things.

You can do everything with them.

So I bought some thick cut bacon and a dozen eggs. They were the first things that came to mind.

After I seasoned the skillet, I lit the coals and placed it on the grill.

Four strips of bacon went in, got flipped, and got cooked until crispy.

I discarded half the bacon fat and cracked two eggs right into the remaining fat.


The pan was really hot, so it only took about a minute for the eggs to come to a perfect sunny side-up.

I love eggs any way I can get them.

Super-runny is always good.

It was (and always is) a great late-night meal.

I can’t wait to use the ol’ non-stick for more dishes.
